Morslug - Completed

 It was honestly an accident. I was doing good work, painting, blending, fussing over the mushrooms, and before I knew it I'd painted the rim black.

The original plan was to use them models as scrap to kit bash some kind of Grot madness. In the end I never got around to it. Sherman Calliope, Panther and Panzer IV, from left to right.

For shits I just put them together. They're junk. The fit is poor, the rubber tracks are crap, detail is poor, I'm not in a rush to waste time painting them. The brand is Airfix, avoid.

Anniversary Update

Here's the morning edition news.

The cracking compound works too well.

This is not evident at a distance, as shown below. 

Buy closer inspection shows that it pulled the under paint off the layer of liquid green stuff  

So really it's only good for texture, and not finish, because you have to paint over it. 

Also, using some super thin primer I brush primed the "nurgle guy", who's irrelevant name I can't remember.

IDK if I'm going to follow the box art for my first ever Nurgle, or just take mild direction in the form of color palette.

Also, I found this in the business section, but I think it should be under humor.

Wraith (Reaper Miniatures 07005)

So I thought the Wraith was cool, but his sword was a bit stubby.  

Enter razor saw! It goes through white metal like a hot knife through butter. 

The blades are quite brittle, so don't torque them. My first lasted almost a year, but back then I was using it without a handle so it was easier to torque. Which makes them look like this. 

They don't shatter,but they crack. So my advise is to keep things plumb and use smooth strokes, especially on metal. 

Keep your brushes pointy,

Scuptig Tools?

I went to the art store to get some sculpting tools, and that was a fail. 

But just because they didn't have what I "need", doesn't mean I went away empty handed! Some glue, a Nurgle mystery box, some brush soap, a bunch of paint, and a brush. Not a bad haul all things considered.

Lost Bits! --UPDATED--

Nothing pisses me off like loosing a tiny bit, and that's exactly what happened. 

That's one le of a bipod. The other is 100% gone. Which means it's time to scratch build. Ugh. I think I'll use brass wire, and maybe some metal from a beer can? I'm pretty annoyed with myself. I clearly remember putting both back in the blister, but it just have jumped out somewhere. I imagine that I vacuumed it up at some point. 

Ok shit. It's not perfect but I'm quite pleased. 

Like it's a bit fat.

Project Grimdark pt. 2

Based on a single search I've determined that "Grimdark" is the correct nomenclature.

Project Grim Dark, or is it Grimdark?

Here's the plan, I have 2 super cool space marines and 1, not so cool, space marine. My plan is to try some new tricks (new for me) on the cheap one, and possibly apply them to the more "rare" models. 

As many of my long time readers are probably aware, I have a bit to a thing for Blood Angels, and with that in mind I busted out the walnut colored Rust-Oleum and primed some minis. 

Also, we went shopping today in I picked up this...

We'll follow up in due course.

Wyvern from Reaper

I the last post I was having trouble recalling the name, it's a Wyvern.

It was supposed to be a fast paint, and it was. I started by painting it black, because it's really hard to prime Reaper's Bones any other way, you can't see white on them.  Then I did the quick drybrush, and realized that it still had mold lines... No shits were given and after dry brushing with white I decided that this Wyvern would be orange and red.

Doombull brown as a base on the scales with Ushabti Bone for the wings. Then I used a flesh tone to start adding to the wings, and I layered up some oranges, Troll Slayer and Fire Dragon Bright.

To try and draw attention to the head I painted the tongue an opposite color, if the model was better I would have gone crazy on the face, but it's not and the detail is soft.  To finish I used oil washes on the wings and body, then used a Q-tip to remove the excess.

It's definitely ready to kill players in DnD, but the poor sculpt, (there's no good viewing angle), and low detail made me call this job done. I'll add some dirt to the base the next time I'm basing something.

It's official I'm over it. No I didn't have COVID, I mean I'm over this mini! I called it done yesterday.

In the end I don't even hate it. I think that the arm positions are wrong and it's got some other issues (looking at you pig skin), but whatever.

I've done worse.

So yeah, that's a wrap. The next next project is the snake-bird thing, whose fantasy name currently escapes me, but I plan to practice on the smaller bat wing dragon beast, (I'm really botching this).
