I'm super pleased to announce that I won an online painting competition. It was an interesting experience, and for sure a roller coaster of emotion, as you could see the live results fluctuating.
I guess the, downside, if there was one, is that it's all done via popular vote. There's nothing wrong with that, per se, but the populace isn't know for great collective decision making. The other thing is that unlike an art show, or a celebration of art, how does one with no instruction "judge" one piece to be "better" than another? I'm not sure.
All that I know is that quite a few people preferred mine over those it was pitted against. The other issue, is thatyou don't really find out what people didn't like, so for anyone who didn't "win" doesn't really know what they did "wrong". I dunno if that's a very nice environment for people to find themselves in.
I only bested the above by a vote or two, so is mine really "better"? Don't know. Would I do it again? Don't know.
Am I pleased with myself? Yes.
Keep your brushes clean,
HMP
