Very Old Space Marine

Today's 1st post, (I'm being optimistic), is that of a guest artist, my Brother! He's the best painter I actually know, and his take on the dead marine from Space Hulk is truly epic.

It's so epic that we are going to pick it apart in detail.

With the last 3 nearing completion I pulled out the "old" guys to take a walk down memory lane. I painted them nearly 2 years ago, and the difference is obvious. I'm really looking forward to completing this project, and playing a game with my new squads.

Power Weapons Part 3

OK, so we've coverd thunder hammers, lightening claws, and now a power sword.  Obviously lightening claws should have a lightening look about them, and a thunder hammer, well, that kinda goes with lightening too, so where does that leave the power sword? Turns out it's lightening too!

I really hope to  do a shoot of the most recent 3 figures against my first attempt at painting the Blood Angel's almost 2 years ago. The old ones are in a box, and I haven't looked at them during this process (unfinished squads dont go on display), so it will be interesting to see if/how I've progressed.

While the majority of the few remaining "normal sized" Americans spent the long weekend working on their obesity (trying to avoid or attain it), I focused on power weapons, specifically lightening claws.

My spouse saw my lightening attempt and couldn't identify what it was, not a big deal, after all, what does she know about power weapons? My brother saw my lightening attempt and was unimpressed; THAT'S a problem. He's usually pretty supportive, so his opinion actually matters (unlike the spouses).

After 3 attempts and 2 hours I've had it with lightening. On the upside I now know what not to do.

In the future I would drink more coffee sooner, (just to the point where you shake). Then do the lightening, squiggles make themselves!

Space Hulk Terminators

It's been a while since I painted a Blood Angel, because the last time I tried to paint 6 at once, which probably brought in some kind of PTSD...

Brother "I have too many gems" Noctis

     So, here's an update. I sat down to do some painting on the weekend (it was raining), and I thought that I'd be able to bang out all the gems. That didn't happen. In fact I just kept finding more, on this one guy! Even now there's two more on his upper back left shoulder that I completely missed! FML.
