Sometimes I forget which gold is really "brass" and which silver is really "blue steel". With that in mind I quickly painted up some sprue. Left to right Reaper MSP BONES Blackened Steel, GW Leadbelcher, GW Ironbreaker, GW Runefang Steel, GW Gehenna's Gold, GW Retributor Gold, GW Auric Armour Gold, GW Screaming Bell, and finally GW Golden Griffon.
The results are as follows. Blackened Steel has a hint of blue, while Leadbelcher is more of a gray. Ironbreaker is very close to Runefang Steel, but better consistency paint. Gehenna's is brassy, while Retributor is a warm gold and Auric Armour is yellow gold. Screaming bell is an awesome copper, and finally the Griffon is just random metallic beige?
Keen eyed readers will see 3 small swatches at the end. They are all Tamiya paints. X-10 Gun Metal, X-11 Chrome and XF-16 Flat Aluminum. The Tamiya paints are hard to work with as they are thinned with alcohols, but the X-10 Gun Metal is metallic black, white the chrome is a nice silver as is the flat aluminum. On bigger surfaces the differences between the chrome and flat Al become apparent (the flat, is flat).
